Building around the legendary Zeiss 10-100 Academy 16mm Zoom of the early 1980’s, Optex updated the lens and expanded it with a new rear group to give S16 coverage whilst maintaining the character of the donor lens. Prone to a vintage aesthetic with uncorrected spherical aberrations as well as the ‘organic’ flare of the vintage build. This lens is painterly and high-contrast with rich colour saturation. Significant breathing is a factor in choosing this lens but complements a wide range of scenarios to use this to artistic effect. The 10X zoom range lends an attractive versatility minimising the need for lens changes in the field. The MACRO function at 12mm brings focus down to just in front of the front element!
